Lewis Abramowitz (1874-1931) was a merchant who operated a department store in Barnegat. He originally immigrated from Russia, along with his wife, Dora D. Abramowitz. They were a notable Jewish-Lithuanian couple. Abramowitz's department store sold toys, furniture, clothing, and much more. Lewis passed away from an automobile accident in 1931 and left control of his store to his wife, Dora, and she continued to operate it for a number of years.
This incredible collection was purchased by me in July 2023 and contains well over 100+ billheads from different merchants to Lewis Abramowitz from 1912-1914, and 1920-1921. These are a great historical record of inventory that he would have purchased for his department store. There are also some local businesses as well. Shown here is a small selection of the many different billheads. To view the entire collection, check out the Ol' Tales of Barnegat Facebook group. Select "Albums" and then click on the Lewis Abramowitz Billhead Collection!
